After a conversation with Federal Minister Julia Klöckner, representatives of '5 am Tag' e.V. presented the new EU-sponsored "Snack 5" campaign. It launches in January and, for three years, will promote a variety of activities across all online and offline channels, aiming to increase consumption of fruit and vegetables as an intermediate meal. The project will be jointly sponsored by the German 5 am Tag Association and the Austrian Agricultural Market Austria. It will have a budget of around 3 million euros. The aim is to anchor fruits and vegetables in people's minds as the better snack.
For this, 100 good reasons are to be found on the Internet, all social media channels will be put to use, there will be recipe tips, webinars, photo and video stories. School excursions to fruit and vegetable growers are provided as well as events in the market. Every year, around 400 schools and 400 companies are to be involved in Germany alone, participating in activities such as the "Day of the Apple". In addition, cooperations with high-circulation print media and a strong presence at trade and consumer fairs are planned.
Sabine Lauxen, Board Speaker of 5 am Tag, affirms all this: "We need clear and simple messages for a healthy diet. With the 'Snack 5' project, we want to send a strong and contemporary signal and at the same time give new momentum to the proven '5 a Day' message."
