The Association ‘Demain la Terre’ has integrated UNAF into the Control Committee, a major pillar of its governance and the credibility of its approach. The commitment of the producers who are members of the Association is based on the compliance with the ‘Demain la Terre’ Charter®, which aims to provide consumers with credible evidence of this commitment, focused on three priorities: health, quality and respect for people and the environment.
This Charter is made up of around 60 criteria that are better-defined, objective, precise and measurable, and has been designed considering the diversity of situations and types of production, to be universally applicable.
The proper application of the different criteria and the level reached for each of them are checked annually by an independent control body, through an announced or unexpected audit. This control is supplemented by a permanent monitoring of the process, carried out by the Control Committee, established at the launch of the Charter in 2010. This Committee has a dual role: it receives audits, questions them, validates or invalidates the attribution of the ‘Demain la Terre’ Charter® and pilots the evolutions of the Charter.
In order to strengthen its link with consumers, ‘Demain la Terre’ has wanted to work with an association that promotes and represents the interests of families, particularly in terms of food. It is therefore natural that links with UNAF have been established within the Control Committee.
The person representing UNAF on the Committee is Mrs. Dominique ALLAUME - BOBE, Administrator of UNAF, Chairman of the "Habitat - Living Environment" studies department, in charge of Sustainable Development, Member of the Group of the UNAF at the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE).
Ms. Allaume-Bobe says: "Food is a very important issue for families because it is a guarantee of health. This is the reason why I am committed to ‘Demain la Terre’ which has a continuous improvement approach with fruit and vegetable producers. The DLT Charter addresses both human health and product quality requirements as well as respect for people and the environment. It is therefore a systemic approach to agricultural production that deserves support. UNAF, an association of families and consumers, wishes to support DLT in this CSR ambition."
The other members of the Control Committee are: Bruno Parmentier (Former Director of ESA d'Angers, Chairman of the Committee), Bernard Lamidel (Vice President of the National Beekeeping Union (SNA)), Damien Bonduelle (Chairman of AgrIDées), Gilles Desbrosse (former retail Executive), Michel Mustin (international expert on organic matter in soils) and Vincent Colomb (Eco-design Engineer at ADEME).
The Association ‘Demain la Terre’ (Tomorrow for the Planet), founded in 2004, brings together fruits and vegetables companies, gathered around the same vision of agriculture and sustainable development, combining environment/biodiversity, economy and social. ‘Demain la Terre’ has developed its own specifications, the ‘Demain la Terre’ Charter®. More than 165,000 tons of fruit and vegetables are certified ‘Demain la Terre’ each year. This is the CSR reference in fruits and vegetables agriculture, a third way with conventional and organic farming. Demain la Terre is a founding member of the Third Way for a Responsible Agricultural Industry Collective.
