Season Two of Tomorrow’s World Today will be featuring a visit to Chiquita headquarters in Guatemala and Panama. The first episode of season two, which airs on Saturday, May 4, introduces sustainability across the banana harvesting process. Tamara Krinsky, the field reporter for Tomorrow’s World Today, learns about the logistics of getting bananas from the field to the store when she visits Chiquita facilities in Guatemala.
“Chiquita is delighted to be featured on Tomorrow’s World Today, a cutting-edge program which examines how pioneers use natural and technological resources to create a more sustainable society,” said Carlos Lopez Flores, President of Chiquita. “The show will focus on what is behind the Chiquita Blue Sticker and will take you on the incredible voyage of a Chiquita banana from the farms in the Tropics to their point of sale in the markets we serve. We are all proud of what we do at Chiquita and, above all, how we achieve success and resilience in an increasingly sustainable fashion. Enjoy the journey.”
Chiquita will appear again later in season two, focusing on how they incorporate high technology - such as GPS tracking - into the process of crop dusting, to deliver the right amount of fertilizers and fungicides exactly where is needed, improving efficiency as well as the impact on the environment.
The company said that Tomorrow’s World Today returns to Science Channel for season two beginning Saturday, May 4 at 8am.
