Turkey exported more than 147 million USD (131 million Euro) worth of fresh fruits and vegetables to Russia in the first three months of the year. Tomatoes, mandarins and lemons were top export products.
According to Eastern Black Sea Exporters' Association (DKIB), Turkey, in the first quarter exported 219 thousand 145 tons of fresh fruits and vegetables to Russia and received 147 million 28 thousand 391 USD (131,2 million Euro) in return. Tomatoes, mandarins and lemons constituted 72,5% of the overall fresh produce exports to Russia.
In the first three months of the year, Turkey exported 50 thousand 828 tons of tomatoes to Russia and gained 47 million 521 thousand 795 USD (42,3 million Euro). Last year in the same period, 9 thousand 850 tons of tomatoes were exported in return of 9 million 297 thousand 135 USD (8,2 million Euro). Tomato exports increased by 416% in terms of volume, and increased by 411% in terms of value.
In the same period this year, Turkey exported 59 thousand 725 tons of mandarins to Russia and earned 33 million 549 thousand 324 USD (29,8 million Euro). Besides, 44 thousand 526 tons of lemons were exported in return of 25 million 577 thousand 817 USD (22,9 million Euro).
Turkey exported 25 varieties of fresh fruits and vegetables to Russia in the first quarter. Pomegranate and grapefruit followed tomatoes, mandarins and lemons. Turkey exported 9 million 554 thousand and 979 USD (8,4 million Euro) worth of pomegranates and 8 million 455 thousand 356 USD (7,5 million Euro) worth of grapefruits to Russia.
