A new event to promote Endevory miniplum tomatoes, a variety developed by Eugenseed Gemetics suitable for both long winter and short summer cycles, has recently taken place.
An Open Day was organized so Sicilian producers could get to know it better.
Many took part and could appreciate the high quality of a product that is doing well year after year. Eugenseed Genetics technicians answered all questions and provided further elements useful to make an assessment.
Endevory adapts well to all kinds of transplants, which is very important if we consider the extreme conditions crops must face especially in summer such as extreme temperature ranges and diseases (such as the Tomato yellow leaf curl virus-TYLCV). What is more, Endevory has proved to be highly tolerant toTYLCV.
The event was organised at the Cunsolo Chiara Gaetana company and FreshPlaza talked to Pierpaolo Pivatelli from EugenSeed Genetics. "The variety has a deep bright color, an excellent acid-sugar ratio and a flavor that remains unaltered also in summer, when temperatures usually considerably reduce sugar levels. The rachis is sturdy and very regular and generally produces 12-14 fruits weighing 20-25 gr. Internodes are short and the yield is exceptional."

"Researchers did a good job. We had been looking for a variety like Endevory for years, i.e. one that could overcome the most difficult periods enabling flowers to set even at high temperatures. But we also wanted a sturdy plant that could meet producer expectations. Endevory did not disappoint."
"We have showcased the peculiarities of this tomato, which is always competitive and in line with the quality requirements of fresh produce markets. Endevory is resistant to cracking, has an excellent firmness and remarkable shelf-life. Consumers have appreciated the product's organoleptic qualities and its deep red color in particular," added Eugenseed Genetics' sales manager.
