Greek fruit and vegetable exports increased in terms of volume and value in January 2020. The good news, based on ELSTAT data, is that exports continued to record an all-time high in 2019.
In 2019, fruit and vegetable exports totaled 1.59 million tons; up 3.6% compared to the previous year. These shipments were worth € 1.12 billion; up 6.1%, according to ELSTAT statistics.
Vegetable exports reached 236.04 thousand tons; an increase of 3.5% compared to 2018. The value of these stood at EUR 164.1 million; up 11.9%.
Meanwhile, fruit exports amounted to 1,352 million tons; 2.3% more than in 2018, and these shipments were worth 953.7 million Euro; up 6.5%.
Subsequently, in January 2020, fresh fruit and vegetable exports increased by 10.5% in terms of volume compared to 2019, reaching 150,594 tons, while the value increased by 27.8%, to 104,978 million Euro, according to the latest ELSTAT data edited by INCOFRUIT-HELLAS.
At the same time, Greece recorded a stagnation of imports (+0.5%) in terms of volume and a 13.6% increase in terms of value.
