The Minister of Transportation of Egypt, Lt. Gen. Engineer Kamel, has worked together with the president and leaders of the Red Sea Ports Authority to resume the movement of cargo trucks (refrigerators / trailers) on the shipping line Safaga / Daba Al-Saudi.
In a press statement, the Minister of Transportation said that the first test shipment has already been made.
The needs of the Saudi market
The shipment left Poseidon Express from the port of Safaga with 20 trucks heading to the Saudi port of Daba to help meet the Saudi market's demand for vegetables, citrus and fruits in a manner that does not violate the requirements of the Saudi Ministry of Health and the application of all precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus epidemic.
Coordination with other parties
The Minister, working in coordination with the Director of the Port of Safaga and the customs authorities, asked for the necessary steps to be taken to maintain the continuity of exports through the port of Safaga and protect the Egyptian vegetable and fruit export industry while meeting the needs of the sisterly Arab countries for Egyptian goods and exports.
The Ministry’s statement also said that the shipping line between the Egyptian ports of Nuweiba and the Jordanian Aqaba will continue its commercial activity.
