"The first harvest of Chinese bayberries from Xianju took place on the 4th of June. The first variety to be harvested was the Junlang Biqi bayberry. This variety will enter the market around the 15th of June. The Dongkui bayberry will follow suit." This is according to Ying Jun, president of the Xianju County Junlang Plantation Cooperation.

"Extreme weather conditions took place in various parts of the country this year, but the growth of our Chinese bayberries remained unaffected. The size of the bayberries is the same as always. Even the production volume of our cooperation is more impressive than last year. Although the sweetness of the Chinese bayberries is easily affected by rainfall, as long as the rainfall is not too strong and does not last all day, the impact is relatively small."

"The outbreak of Covid-19 earlier this year had a negative impact on the Chinese economy. The domestic fruit market is not in a great condition. Under these circumstances, we have decided to focus on online sales, but at the same time, we also try to diversify our retail channels. We aim to sell our Chinese bayberries to long-term customers for the same price as last year, provided that economic development continues and the market remains stable. Apart from this, we have also expanded the variety of our product packages. In addition to medium- and high-end vacuum-sealed packages as well as simple plastic packages, we also developed small gift packages for the high-end market."

"In some cities in China the supermarkets offer Chinese bayberries under fake brands that give the false impression that the bayberries come from Xianju in Zhejiang. This will have an impact on the sales of real Xianju bayberries, which are about to enter the Chinese market. The poor quality of fake-brand bayberries will harm the trust of consumers in the quality of Xianju bayberries.
"The relevant departments of Xianju county government are investigating supermarkets in nearby cities to counter this development. At the same time, other departments of the county government organize promotional activities for the sales of Xianju bayberries. This will help consumers from outside of Xianju to become familiar with real Xianju bayberries."
