Nutrano Produce Group is in the middle of its citrus season and have started their export program for Navel oranges, which is going well.
“Our first export containers of Navels left during late May, and we are just about to start the Hickson mandarins, a tasty prelude to our Murcott mandarins which are extremely popular with our export markets. Afourer is another big mandarin variety for us and we plan to start harvesting in mid-July.” explains Simon Raj – General Manager Sales and Marketing.
For Nutrano some of the harvesting across the varieties started a couple of weeks earlier, due to early maturity so they are now in full operation mode, with domestic and export demand for citrus up as consumers look to boost vitamin C intake.
“Nutrano has invested over $1M towards frost fans on our Sunraysia properties where we grow Navel Oranges, Cara Cara, Lemons, Grapefruit, Imperial and Afourer Mandarins. This was key to ensure crop protection measures were in place to minimise risk from severe frost conditions. This strategy has already returned well with frost in the region at the very beginning of winter.”
Nutrano’s citrus program is underpinned by the production from its own farms but well supported by a number of strategic supply alliances with many other citrus growers around Australia. Their collective success is the result of strong communication, collaboration and alignment of quality specifications across all citrus varieties.
“Our Australian-grown fruit is recognised as premium throughout global markets, famous for producing high quality fruit with good juice content and eating profile for consumers. Our customers love our brands and we are working hard to deliver the best service we possibly can for all of our customers”.
