"Product quality of Dongkui bayberries is stable"

"Initial sales of Chinese bayberries from Zhejiang went well"

The harvest of Dongkui bayberries from Zhejiang officially entered the market on the 12th of June. An extensive survey has shown that the official first day of the Dongkui bayberry season was never more than 2 days earlier or later than the average. One bayberry planter from Zhejiang recently talked about current conditions in the Chinese bayberry industry.

Bayberries

"The production volume and product quality of Chinese bayberries is quite stable this year. This is mainly because the weather conditions in production areas were quite stable this year. There were no days of excessive rainfall or extreme drought during the early days of the growing season. Furthermore, the Dongkui bayberry industry in Zhejiang has matured for several years now. There are no major changes between different years."

"The bayberry is a minority fruit on the Chinese fruit market. The berries are not suitable for long-distance transport. Furthermore, the harvest season is quite short. The supply volume is therefore not that big. The bayberry production areas are distributed across the country, and each area produces a distinctive flavor. The bayberry varieties in Zhejiang generally mature early."

"The price of bayberries was around 12-20 yuan [1.70-2.83 USD] per 0.5 kg when the bayberries entered the market last year. The price differences were based on fruit size. The price seems to be somewhat lower this year, but not too much."
