As of July 14th, Georgia has exported 6,179 tonnes of peaches and nectarines. This is 640 tonnes more than in the same period of last year, when about 5,539 tonnes of peaches and nectarines were exported, announces the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia.
Georgian peaches and nectarines were mainly exported to: Russia, at 3,796 tonnes (61 per cent of total export), Armenia at 1,857 tonnes (30 per cent) and Azerbaijan at 417 tonnes (7 per cent).
The Ministry of Agriculture reported that export is carried out also in Kazakhstan, Slovenia, Moldova and Singapore where in total 109 tonnes of peach and nectarine have been exported.
Last year Georgia exported 13,256 peaches and nectarines in the following countries:
- Russia - 10,777 tonnes
- Armenia - 1,373 tonnes
- Azerbaijan - 667 tonnes
- Ukraine - 150 tonnes
- Kazakhstan - 114 tonnes
- Slovenia - 78 tonnes
- Iraq - 39 tonnes
- Iran - 20 tonnes
- Moldova - 19 tonnes
- Belarus - 18 tonnes
- Qatar - 0.4 tonnes
There are 11 fruit processing factories operating in Georgia with the co-financing of the Ministry of Agriculture.
