Lower Chinese apple and pear exports expected this season

"Affected by the extreme weather earlier on, the production of pears this season in many production areas has dropped sharply, by as much as 70% in some areas. However, so far it seems that the production in Shandong is still relatively normal. If no hails occur in the summer, the production should more or less remain the same as in previous years,” Wang, manager of Jining Shangzhuo Food Co., Ltd., talked about the production and sales of apples and fresh pears this season.

Jining Shangzhuo Food Co., Ltd. is a specialized grower and exporter of apples and pears. The company exports apple varieties such as Fuji, Qinguan, Huaniu, and Huangguan, as well as many varieties of fresh pears such as Ya pear, Golden Pear, Xingao, Fengshui, Qiuyue, Gong pear, and Su pear.

"Southeast Asia and the Middle East are our main export markets. Every year, we export a total of about 200 containers to Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and other areas. When talking about the export expectations for the crop of this season, Wang said, "Due to lower local production and the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic in overseas markets, I expect the overall export volume to decrease this year. Shipments to Southeast Asia may not change much but exports to South Asia and North America will fluctuate more significantly. "

“The overall price of exported fruits this season is expected to be lower than the same period last year. Although the lower pear production has reduced the market volume, the lack of consumption power has led to lower sales volumes than the same period in the previous year. If the Covid-19 crisis is eased in the later period, the price of pears will pick up. At present, apples, especially Fuji apples, have not yet been available in large volumes. I expect that apple prices may follow the changes seen in pear prices in the mid-season and show slight increases.”

Located in Jining, Shandong, Jining Shangzhuo Food Co., Ltd. is a foreign-trade-facing manufacturer integrating scientific research, development, growing, processing, and import and export. With more than ten years of experience in fruit export, the company has two specialized fruit processing plants and two specialized cold storage warehouses.

"In order to best guarantee the quality of the fruit, we follow the recommendations of specialized companies in terms of growing. The sugar content of our fruit produced is about 5% higher than that of our peers, and the fruit shape and color are very characteristic. In terms of processing, we strictly grade the fruit according to the quality to meet the needs of different customers in the high, medium, and low-end markets to the greatest extent. In terms of storage, we have introduced advanced cold storage technology to control the temperature and ventilation based on the weather and season. In terms of the market, we customize packaging according to the customer requirements to meet customer needs to the maximal extent.”

When talking about export experience, Wang said, “I think that a company’s reputation among customers is very important. Only those with high quality and good brand reputation can stand out in an increasingly competitive market." Jining Shangzhuo Food Co., Ltd. also exports ginger, garlic, skinless onions, and frozen diced onions.
