Serena Hoekstra about the new trading company, Finkum Europa:

"Turkish products sales have been exceptional from the start"

The Netherlands gained a new trading company this year. Finkum Europa sells Turkish fruit and vegetables on the European market. "We've been cultivating our own fruit and vegetables for more than 15 years. We do so in our own fields in Turkey. But we also work with family businesses," says Serena Hoekstra.

"Finkum's Turkish products are already reasonably well-known in the European market. This new start will boost the brand anew," says Serena. She, and two colleagues, run the European sales officer. "Turks generally don't speak English very well. And Dutch people often speak no Turkish at all. So, representation in the Netherlands is ideal."

"We supply our European clients directed from Turkey. We've started exceptionally well. In a short time, we're already supplying various Dutch importers. These include Staay Food Group, Zoutewelle, and Wilko Fruit. We now want to begin looking toward markets like the UK. We hope to, eventually, be able to supply our products throughout Europe. We want everyone to enjoy them."

"We offer a wide range of Turkish products. Included are figs from Bursa and quince from Bursa and Denizli. Then we have grapes from Denizli and Manisa, and pomegranates from Mersin, Antalya, and Denizli. Currently, we have Turkish figs, grapes, apricots, and nectarines. At the end of the month, we'll add pomegranates. The demand for fresh figs was a pleasant surprise. There was also a good demand for grapes from the start. Our growers have Turkish chilies and bell peppers too. But, we first want to gauge the interest in those," concludes Serena.
