"We expect our production volume of Chinese Orah mandarins to triple this year"

The Orah mandarin is a thick-skinned citrus fruit. This mandarin variety originates in Israel. Many production areas in China have started planting this mandarin variety in the last few years.

The Orah mandarins from Wuming county in Guangxi have a distinct market advantage over mandarins from other production areas. The Orah mandarins from Wuming enter the Chinese market around Chinese Spring Festival [25 January, 2020]. The production seasons of many tangerine and orange varieties has already finished by then, and the Orah mandarins from Wuming neatly fill this gap in the market. In addition, the flavor of Orah mandarins from Wuming is excellent. The sweetness is slightly stronger than the sourness. This is the perfect flavor for Chinese consumers.

"The Orah mandarin production season in Wuming begins every year in January and can last until the end of May. It is still too early to tell if the production season next year will begin early or end late. That depends on many different reasons, including weather conditions. But we can already see that the product quality will be excellent this season. The average size is between 50-60mm." This is according to manager Huang of Guangxi Dongming Modern Agricultural Development Co., Ltd.

"We expect the production volume in this new production season to triple in comparison with the production volume of last season. This is mainly because our trees have matured and all of them are in the peak of their production. Furthermore, while production areas throughout China suffered from extreme weather conditions such as frost, strong winds, and heavy rainfall, Wuming was fortunate enough to escape the worst of it."

The Chinese fruit market in the second half of 2020 is much more stable than in the first half of this year. However, the outbreak of Covid-19 still has an impact on the market conditions. Retail is a struggle. According to manager Huang, "there are still many challenges, whether they have to do with supply, packaging, product quality control, or entering the market, but we are not at all worried. We firmly believe that no matter the circumstances, top-quality products will always overcome any challenge in the market."

"We sell our mandarins through traditional retail channels as well as e-commerce platforms. And we still focus most of our attention on the markets in east China, northeast China, and north China. From there we distribute across the country. Compared to previous years, we will pay more attention to online sales and online advertisement."

The Ming Ming Orchard was established in March of 2014. The orchard has now grown into a mature plantation with a nursery for seedlings, a cultivation program for fruit trees, post-harvest processing facilities, refrigerated distribution, trade facilities, and a high level of agricultural technology. This modern agricultural company integrates the entire supply chain. The plantation has more than 10,000 seedlings and a mandarin selection line that meets modern international standards.
