Mexico's government has worked very hard to boost the country's agricultural exports. In fact, it has managed the opening of 8 new markets between September 2019 and June of this year. Thanks to these efforts, Mexico will be able to export its table grapes to South Korea; blackberries to China and South Africa, and fresh mangoes with irradiation treatment, to Australia, among others.
The signing of the Phytosanitary Requirement Protocol for the Export of fresh banana fruit from Mexico to China allowed the country to make its first shipments to that destination in January 2020. During the first quarter of 2020, the country shipped 58 tons of bananas from Chiapas and Tabasco to that destination.

From September 1, 2019, to July 31 of this year, 52.18% of the national territory's surface maintained as an area free of fruit flies thanks to the National Campaign against Fruit Flies. This has protected 693,248 hectares of the 20 main host products of the plague, whose annual production is estimated at 8.4 million tons and has a commercial value of 31,832 million pesos.
During the same period, the country established new phytosanitary measures for the entry of merchandise from abroad; and advanced the work plan for the entry of stone fruits from Spain under a systems approach and cold treatment in transit.
