Futuragri from Cesena has introduced a new solution for 1.5 kg potato packets. "We produce around 5,000 tons of potatoes a year in crops within a few km from our processing plants. We decided to opt for a deep yellow design that grabs the attention of consumers but, most of all, for a solution that is 100% recyclable as it is made of paper and cellulose hydrate," explains co-owner Giampiero Valdinoci.
The new packaging
The new packaging enables total traceability and is completely recyclable, as the paper comes from certified forests (Standard ATICELCA 501/19 - class A - UNI 11743). The window is made of cellulose hydrate, a material of vegetable origin that is Home Compostable. All the materials are conceived with circular economy in mind and are zero residue.

"What is more, as the paper used is porous and breathable, it prolongs the shelf-life of the products more than any net or perforated solution, thus contributing to reducing food waste," adds Valdinoci.
Potatoes are of the Vitalia variety and the grade used is between 55 and 75. Quality is very high this year, as there have been no problems due to the absence of rain and, for the most part, serious events such as hailstorms or violent storms.
