Greendomo project

Tecnova promotes the development of greenhouses for intensive crops in urban environments

The Tecnova Technological Center is working with the Novagric, Polímero Gestión Industrial, Alarcontrol, and Induser companies in the Greendomo project to develop an intensive production system for urban cultivation so as to provide consumers with local, fresh, and residue-free products.

Tecnova's Greenhouse Technology area provides companies with support to design and manage the structures and will be in charge of validating the system in the experimental farm.

The design that is being developed, which is easily integrable in different urban spaces, is based on a geodesic dome-shaped structure that isolates the crop from the outside environment and facilitates climate management due to its unique shape. It has the physical and mechanical structural qualities required to undergo permanent and variable actions.

In addition, this type of crop offers higher productive yields, which results in less use of land. Growing crops in urban spaces decreases the carbon footprint needed to transport these products from the countryside to the city. In addition, thanks to the shape of the geodesic dome, they make greater use of solar radiation, and controlling their environment is easier.
