Vellsam Materias Bioactivas will offer a training talk at Fruit Attraction LIVEConnect

Fruit Attraction: Webinar on research in the plant's defence system and their rhizosphere

Vellsam Materias Bioactivas will participate in Fruit Attraction's first online edition with a webinar on research in the plant's defense system and their rhizosphere, which it will offer in the coming days through the Fruit Attraction LIVEConnect technological platform, which has been working since October 1 and will go until next October 31.

The company from Almeria will be able to offer this training talk through its partner Freshuelva, one of the exhibitors at the international fair, on a date that still hasn't been determined. In the training, the Director of Development, Gema Perez, and the Director of Microbiology, David Castro, will present the defense system of plants and their rhizosphere.

Vellsam Materias Bioactivas, a traditional manufacturer of chemical fertilizers, focuses on the development of innovative products obtained from the knowledge of how plants normally respond to different types of stress; either biotic stress (generated by invasive agents that cause damage or disease in the plant, such as fungi, bacteria or viruses), or abiotic stress (caused by adverse environmental factors such as extreme temperatures, high solar incidence, or droughts).

David Castro will conduct the first presentation. He will talk about one of the company's most active lines of research, which focuses on the study of the relationship between the plant and microorganisms in the rhizosphere, as well as the benefits provided by bacteria capable of promoting the growth of plants (PGPR), such as an increase in the availability of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium; protection against abiotic stress through the production of enzymes, such as polyphenol oxidase (PPO) and peroxidases or ACC deaminase, capable of regulating ethylene, and against biotic stress.

Gema Perez will be in charge of the second presentation. She will focus on active defense mechanisms, where a fundamental role can be played to minimize damage to crops, as well as on Vellsam's Provite range's technological base, an effective technology that was developed to improve crop performance -even when it is subjected to a certain type of stress- and that is respectful to the environment.

Vellsam Materias Bioactivas has conducted several international training talks in recent months, one on the importance of the microbiota in the soil, training participants on soil fertility and microbiology, and another on ecological alternatives to the use of synthesis products, within the Green Areas line.
