EC updates standards for Cucumber mosaic virus in tomato seeds

As published on Monday 26 October in the Official Journal of the European Union (EU), the European Commission (EC) has updated the legislation on measures against the introduction and spread of the Cucumber mosaic virus in tomato seeds, repealing Decision 2004/200/EC and adopting measures against the introduction and spread of Cucumber mosaic virus in the EU.

The text says that this measure has been introduced after the re-evaluation of the phytosanitary situation of the pest and its subsequent inclusion in Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/2072 on regulated non-quarantine pests of the Union.

The Cucumber mosaic virus in tomato seeds Lycopersicon lycopersicum (L.) Karsten ex Farw is featured in this regulation in the list of measures to prevent the presence of regulated non-quarantine EU pests in vegetable seeds.
