Le Tresacois:

Plastic-free packaging for kiwifruit

This year, Le Tresacois has introduced a kraft tray for its kiwifruit campaign. The producer, located in the south of France, is trying to increasingly abandon plastic in order to meet the market's demands.

Le Trecasois is starting the green kiwifruit campaign (Hayward variety) very slowly. "The French market has not yet switched to the French origin. New Zealand is still present. Greece and Italy are also supplying," says José Illan, the company's sales director.

The kiwis are marketed under the brand name "Le Tresquois". "This year, our volume has been reduced by 15% compared to last year due to unfavorable weather conditions; however, the quality is still there," he says. "We are hoping for a similar campaign to last year's, when volumes were not huge either, but both quality and prices were satisfactory."

Le Trecasois has been a producer for three generations. In addition to kiwifruit, its flagship products are asparagus, apricots, cherries, plums and grapes.
