The Montague tree™ plums available at select retailers this December

Australian family-owned fresh produce company, Montague, are thrilled to announce the summer arrival of the Montague tree™ harvest to retailers nationally in December.

The Montague tree™ range features juicy white fleshed peaches and nectarines, succulent yellow fleshed peaches and nectarines, plump apricots and luscious plums. The fruit is hand selected from the outer edges of the orchard trees for superior flavour, expressible juice and large size and are grown by Australian farmers in Queensland (Stanthorpe), Victoria (Swan Hill, Cobram and Shepparton) and Western Australia (Donnybrook, Perth Hills).

The Montague tree™ is the premium range of summer stone fruit, offering a crunchy, sweet taste from the natural sugars, adding flavour and colour to any summer salad. Montague is excited the stone fruit season is here with promising growing conditions and new packing equipment set to provide a boost.

Rowan Little, Chief Innovation Officer of Montague, says “Although crop size had been somewhat downgraded due to hail events during October in Victoria, desirable offseason conditions enhanced flower volume and with flowering occurring slightly early, the season could be running almost 5 days ahead of last season.”

“The 2021 growing season was characterised by higher rainfall over the winter together with good chill which set the groundwork for a good crop. Despite some adverse weather events in south eastern Australia we are confident Australian’s will enjoy a plentiful supply this season. We are delighted to offer our premium stone fruit range, the Montague Tree™ to Australian consumers over the summer and festive season.” said Rowan Little, Chief Innovation Officer, Montague.

Montague will be bolstered by the progress of its new 53,200m2 packhouse with construction expected to be completed by the end of 2020. The project will launch in phases, which will see its new stone fruit grader operational from late December 2020 and all apple production lines fully operational from mid-March 2021, in time for next year’s apple season.

Shoppers can expect to see the Montague Tree™ stone fruit at Coles, Costco and participating Independent supermarkets and green grocers from December to February.
