Rungis International Market and the Republic of Uzbekistan signed a framework agreement on Wednesday December 9th for the creation of a network of wholesale markets in Uzbekistan. The signing ceremony took place by videoconference, in the presence of Franck Riester, Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
SEMMARIS, the managing company of the Rungis International Market and the world's leading operator of agro-logistics infrastructure, will provide its expertise to the Uzbek Ministry of Agriculture for the creation of a network of wholesale markets.
This fully integrated network will be labeled “Rungis International”. By 2022, it will allow more than 3 million tons of goods to be handled through 8 ultramodern hubs. This is the same volume as in the Parisian facilities.
"The expertise of SEMMARIS has allowed the Rungis International Market to become a French and international flagship of agro-logistics. We are very happy to put this know-how at the service of Uzbekistan, which has launched an ambitious agricultural development strategy. This partnership is strengthening the already dynamic economic cooperation between our two countries, especially since the visit to France of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in 2018,” said Stéphane Layani, President of the Rungis International Market.
