Huelva strawberries and raspberries reach higher prices than in the two previous seasons

According to a new report on the 2020/2021 berry campaign in Huelva from the Prices Observatory of the Government of Andalusia, despite the fact that strawberry prices have dropped in the third week of the year, they continue to reach higher figures than in the two previous campaigns.

The average price at origin of strawberries in the third week of 2021, which fell by 11% compared to the previous week, stood at € 3.00 / kg.

As in previous weeks, if we compare the prices received by the producer with those of the same week of the two previous seasons (2018/19 and 2019/20), it appears that the price of strawberries in the third week of this season stood above those registered in the two previous campaigns (€ 2.70 / kg and € 2.49 / kg), according to the Observatory.

Raspberries
The report says that, after the drop in the prices at origin of raspberries in week 2 of 2021, these have rebounded by 13.4% in week 3, reaching € 7.60 / kg.

It is worth noting that the production has been reduced in recent weeks due to the weather, mainly the impact of frosts.

According to the Observatory, the prices at origin of raspberries in the first three weeks of 2021 stand above those registered in the previous season. In the case of the price of week 3 of 2021, it even exceeds the one reached in the 2018/19 campaign.

The report estimates that since the beginning of the 2020/21 campaign (week 36 of 2020), approximately 18.7% of the campaign's expected production has already been marketed, taking into account the average production marketed in the 2016/17 and 2018/19 campaigns.

Blueberries
The average prices at origin of blueberries in the first three weeks of 2021 show a positive development, standing in week 3 at € 6.05 / kg.

If these prices are compared with those of the same week of the two previous campaigns (2018/19 and 2019/20), it appears that the price of blueberries in weeks 1-3 of this campaign has stood below those registered in the two previous campaigns, as revealed in the report of the Prices Observatory of the Government of Andalusia.
