In the past five years, China's imports of table grapes have been increasing, and imports have been fluctuating slightly. While exports and exports have both increased significantly, China is still in a trade surplus. Chile, Peru, and the United States are the main exporters, while neighboring Asian countries and regions such as Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Malaysia are the main importers.
The outlook of China's grape industry is manifested as follows:
(1) The growth of planted acreages has slowed down, and production has continued to increase. In recent years, China's planted area and production have expanded rapidly. Thanks to the introduction of new varieties, the advancement of new management models, technologies, and facilities, profits have been increasing year by year. Especially in southern regions where grapes cannot be grown historically, the planted area continues to increase. It is expected that production will continue to increase in the future if no major climate disasters are present.
(2) Consumption continues to grow, and the consumption of processed products is growing rapidly. With the change of dietary concepts and the improvement of purchasing power, rural residents’ consumption of grapes continues to increase. Consumption of processed products will become an important growth point. Income growth and consumption upgrades are conducive to improving the demand for processed products.
(3) The import volume of table grapes has been increasing steadily, and the export volume continues to grow. As the income level improves and the consumption structure upgrades, imports will still have some room for growth. The improvement of quality will help open up the international market, and it is expected that the export volume will continue to increase.
(4) Market prices have risen steadily. With the increase in production, the overall supply is sufficient, and the price increase momentum is weak. Production and operation costs, especially labor costs, will continue to increase. Together with the overall improvement in quality, prices are expected to rise in a fluctuating pattern.
