Chinese JD Fresh officially opens the tangerine festival in Pujiang, Sichuan

Tangerines from Pujiang in Sichuan supply the Chinese market between January and March. JD Fresh officially opened the online Pujiang tangerine festival on the 14th of March. This is the first "JD Fresh Sichuan Pujiang Tangerine Festival".

JD Fresh worked closely together with the Pujiang tangerine companies to establish, manage, and expand the Pujiang tangerine brand. JD Fresh provided the e-commerce platform, marketing strategy, supply chain management, and capital support. The cooperation stimulates standardization and brand-making in the Pujiang tangerine industry, and strengthens the competitive position of Pujiang tangerines in the Chinese market. This in turn improves the income of tangerine farmers and processing companies in Pujiang.

The online tangerine festival was organized by JD Fresh, the Pujiang Bureau for Agriculture and Rural Development, the Pujiang Chamber of Commerce, the Pujiang Market Supervision Management Office, and JD subsidiaries Dong Dong Farm and JD Distribution. However, in contrast to regular 'support purchase, support retail' e-commerce services, JD Fresh provided early-stage support for the supply chain of Pujiang tangerines. They helped build the Pujiang tangerine supply chain from the ground up.

First, JD Fresh constructed a coop warehouse in Pujiang. Furthermore, this warehouse is equipped with processing facilities that increase both the product quality and the income of farmers. In this way, distribution starts in the production area, which moves the entire supply chain one step further into the future.

The construction of a warehouse with processing facilities in Pujiang also offers local job opportunities. The warehouse requires workers for the processing line and warehouse distribution, as well as truck drivers for transport. The warehouse adds an estimated 1,000 jobs to the local economy. This initiative truly raises the income of farmers in Pujiang and invests in the local economy. Not only does JD Fresh help with supply chain management, but the company also helped the Pujiang tangerine industry with brand-building services, which greatly stimulates Pujiang tangerine retail.

Chinese consumers had already started to recognize the Pujiang tangerine brand after JD Fresh made initial investments. Data shows that warming up activities between March 11-13 caused the trade value of Pujiang tangerines to rise by 100% and this effect is not just visible in Pujiang, but other areas in Sichuan such as Meishan and Danleng also saw their trade value increase as well.
