Saint Lucia government aims for more resilient agri sector

The government of St Lucia has stated it is committed to building resilience in the national agricultural sector.  In a press release, the government stated: “The government understands the importance of disaster resilience and recognizes the importance of water storage in light of climate change and has recently donated a total of 190 tanks to farmers across Saint Lucia.”

The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, Physical Planning, Natural Resources and Cooperatives has said that the initiative would benefit several producers in implementing climate-smart measures to ensure the sustainability of their enterprises.

Also, Ezechiel Joseph expressed gratitude to all stakeholders involved in the procurement of water tanks for the farmers and explained that the initiative forms part of the mandate of the Department of Agriculture to assist young farmers in becoming more efficient and sustainable.
