Augura confirmed it was going to participate in the event

“Colombia will showcase its value-added bananas in Expo Dubai"

The Colombian Banana Association (Augura) confirmed that it was going to participate in Expo Dubai, the most important international promotion event in the world, which will be held from October 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022, after being postponed in 2020 due to the pandemic. This is the first time the event will be held in the Middle East.

“Colombia will showcase its value-added bananas in Expo Dubai. Participating in this event will allow us to further promote the Colombian countryside and its commitment to generating formal employment, and the technical, environmental, and social processes to produce quality fruit," stated the president of Augura, Emerson Aguirre Medina.

Augura will be part of the Colombian delegation that will showcase the best of the country's banana offer to the nearly 190 countries participating in the event.

In 2020, Algeria, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, and Qatar were the largest buyers of Colombian bananas in the Menasa region (Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia), an area of the world that increasingly demands more and better quality bananas. According to data from the National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane), the value of Colombian banana exports to this region increased by more than 100% over the previous year, totaling 4.6 million dollars.

“Expo Dubai will be a great opportunity to showcase Colombia's tourist offer, position the country as an investment destination, and showcase the excellent quality of our non-mining or energetic export products," stated Flavia Santoro, the president of ProColombia.
