Late last week, the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation that the volume of agricultural exports has increased to more than 2.7 million tons from January 1 to April 27. According to a report from the Central Plant Quarantine Administration on total agricultural exports, agricultural exports amounted to 2.72 million tons, an increase of about 150,000 tons over the same period of last year.
The list of the most important agricultural exports included: citrus fruits, potatoes, onions, strawberries, pomegranates, potatoes, beans, beets, guavas, peppers, mangoes and garlic. The report added that Egypt’s total exports of citruses amounted to 1.44 million tons, in addition to the export of 485,503 tons of potatoes ranking second in agricultural exports.
Strawberry exports ranked fifth in the list of exports with a total of 18,668 tons, while sweet potato exports ranked sixth with a total amount of 18,396 tons. Egypt’s exports of beans ranked seventh with a total of 13,455 tons, followed by garlic in eighth place with a total of 10,945 tons. Guava ranked ninth in exports with a total of 7,767 tons.
