Drought and forest fires destroy 1,000 hectares of lemon crops in Guerrero

Lemon growers in the state of Guerrero face a challenging scenario this season. According to the president of the Lemon State Council, Jorge Luna Sanchez, producers have lost 1,000 hectares of lemon crops to the drought and forest fires and haven't received support from the authorities so far. He also said that the lemon factory located in La Sabana wasn't operating, so producers have not been able to market the product, and the ones they have collected are rotting.

Faced with this situation, Luna announced that if the plant is not opened on May 15, the 14,000 producers in the entity will protest to demand solutions to their problems. He also said their members would paralyze all their cargo transportation because the product wasn't being marketed and that they would also join the protest scheduled for May 15.
