Trops approves the merger by acquisition of the Granada cooperative Hercofrut

Trops has approved the merger by acquisition of the Granada cooperative Hercofrut, an entity dedicated to the packaging and marketing of subtropical fruits based in Almuñecar, according to the general director of the Malaga cooperative, Enrique Colilles. The agreement was reached by an absolute majority and involves the incorporation of 302 new farmers.

This increase in the number of farmers, in turn, has helped mitigate the results of the avocado and mango campaigns, which were significantly lower than planned, Colilles said. "If we did not incorporate these partners, our production would be nearly 45% lower than in the previous year," he said. With the entry of new farmers, the company's turnover will only be 30% lower than last year, and not 45% lower.

Trops has 492 partners in the province of Granada alone, a very important figure which allows the Malaga company to continue growing, Colilles stated. He also highlighted that there were no longer any cooperatives that worked outside of Trops in the Andalusian subtropical sector.

The Malaga cooperative is the first transnational producer organization in Andalusia specialized in the production and marketing of avocado and mango. It has more than 2,800 associated farmers and its products are present in more than 25 countries.
