As they do each year, on the 1st of May, the players of the International Market of Rungis SEMMARIS offered some lily-of-the-valley to the French president.
“This year again, we kept our tradition. I am honored to have been able to offer the traditional bouquet of lily-of-the-valley to Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte. The president’s latest announcements give hope that we will soon come out of this crisis, so I wanted to talk about the future and the role of Rungis in the economic recovery of the food and restaurant sector,” explains Stéphane Layani, president and manager of the International Market of Rungis, on his LinkedIn profile.
It was also the opportunity to look back at the generosity of the wholesalers throughout the sanitary crisis, who donated nearly 1,300 tons of merchandise to more than 60 associations. Not to mention the financial solidarity of SEMMARIS who established a solidarity fund in 2020 of 8.5 million euros [10.25 million USD] to help the companies in difficulty. A fund that is to be renewed in 2021.
