Cabotage, e-CMR and digitalization have been among the highly controversial topics in the transport and logistics industry for some time now. In the midst of the conflicting interests of transport companies, associations and the shipping industry, the logistics platform of Neckarsulm-based Dako Log wants to position itself as a solution provider.
"When we launched Dako Log about six months ago, we initially focused on the German market," says Konstantin Popov, one of Dako Log's two managing directors. However, Popov is convinced that the platform has already outgrown its infancy and that maintaining a national focus would be counterproductive for all connected partners, especially since the logistics world is globally networked.
For this reason, a system has now been developed to give all companies worldwide the opportunity to market freight and cargo space via DAKO LOG without affecting the existing cabotage regulations in the respective countries. Accordingly, companies from abroad will not be able to offer freight or cargo space nationally via Dako Log in other countries - regardless of the company's country of origin. In this way, Dako Log wants to contribute to reducing cabotage violations in order not to deprive domestic transport companies of the basis for their existence.
Six months of Dako Log - a first balance
Dumping prices can generally not be offered at DAKO LOG. Every offer is checked in advance. This ensures that marginal costs for transports are not undercut. On the other hand, there are no extortionate prices either. "Our partners bring our goal of being a fair trading platform to life every day," says Popov.
With a technology for site networking (DAKO LOG teams), affiliated companies can also now network with selected partners and exchange freight and loading space across systems. Price inquiries can be made, documents exchanged and negotiations conducted via a messenger. Time-consuming telephone calls and e-mail exchanges are thus eliminated. A new notification tool was also recently introduced. This is intended to automatically notify users when suitable offers are received - meaning that permanent monitoring of the exchange is no longer necessary and frees up time for other activities.
Digital CMR and pallet bills based on blockchain.
With the aim of making the logistics world fairer and more digital, the company is currently working on a digital billing and order management system that will enable DAKO LOG users to record, archive and bill orders. The Dako Log Cloud is to play a central role here, providing users with access to all apps regardless of their location.
Another development focus, according to Dako Log, is e-CMR and e-pallet bills based on blockchain technology. "The benefits from digitizing freight documents are many.
Blockchain technology in particular makes documents tamper-proof and transparent. The cost savings alone due to the elimination of manual activities in the area of document handling and the simple archivability, brings enormous advantages," says Dako Log Managing Director Daniel Hermann. For example, shippers should receive confirmation from the recipient immediately after delivery with the electronic proof of delivery. This creates another advantage: "Time is money - and if you deliver the proof faster, you get your money faster," says Hermann.
Expanding partnerships
The two founders are satisfied with business development to date. They have already been able to establish numerous partnerships with large and well-known companies. Also many small and medium-size enterprises would have already registered themselves with Dako log and are to already use the platform daily. The company is also particularly open to partnerships with associations from the transport and logistics industry and also supports them in order to advance the digitalization of the participants.
"Our partners can focus on their core tasks and we take care of the area of development and process optimization. Individual solutions and customizations are no obstacle for us as software developers in this area," the two managing directors believe.
