Ilip presents its CSR policies and a new corporate sustainability plan for 2020–2022

Ilip continues to renew its commitment to sustainability. Since 2002, the Ilpa group company has intensified its environmental policies based on reducing their environmental impact, recycling, and using renewable resources. Ilip set its environmental goals in its Business Sustainability Plan 2020-2022 and RCS policies: reducing the company's environmental impact throughout the value chain, from the entry of raw material into production plants to logistics, including aspects such as the workers and consumers' health and safety.

It is a broad sustainability approach that starts from the company's code of ethics and is inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to educate the entire production ecosystem to make conscious decisions, including suppliers, customers, and, if possible, final consumers.

Ilip guarantees the supervision of its operations. The company defined key performance indicators (KPI) for the integrated management system that allow controlling the evolution of the company's processes and commitments where environmental sustainability is a key element in decision-making that is as important as technical and economical factors. This also increases the company's obligation to reduce accidents and occupational diseases thanks to the constant development of a business culture of risk prevention.

Within the framework of these efforts, the company will put into operation a new automated warehouse with oxygen depletion and a capacity of 60,000 spaces for pallets in 2021. The warehouse will be located next to the production plant, eliminating the need to transfer the production and decreasing emissions by nearly 300,000 kg of CO₂.

Reducing the environmental impact includes using fewer raw materials in the production of packaging for food. Ilip has been working since 2010 to lighten its products without sacrificing their practicality, safety, and hygiene. This has allowed the company to reduce its use of raw materials by more than 4,000 tons.

Ilip has been a member of Save Food, FAO's initiative against food waste, since 2012 and it's committed to designing packaging that allows increasing the shelf life of products to reduce food waste.

In addition, the company has been committed to transitioning to PET's circular economy for years. The company recycles around 30,000 tons of post-consumer PET per year in a closed system to produce food packaging, which allows them to avoid emitting 75 million kg of CO₂ and guarantees the origin and traceability of the processed secondary raw material.
