France: Wholesalers overwhelmed by reopening of terraces

French bars and restaurants are preparing to reopen their terraces on the 19th of May. Food wholesalers are therefore starting to restock and are feeling overwhelmed. It is the case of Sobraquès Distribution, based in Perpignan, which has had to bring back its 187 employees to meet the demand.

“78% of the 4,000 clients in the department of Pyrenees-Orientales have contacted us to place orders. Restaurants must anticipate the orders in order for us to meet all of the demand,” explains Laurent Sobraquès, director of Sobraquès Distribution.

“It was time to reopen,” explains the director who has lost 50% of his revenue. “Luckily, the summer period looks promising, but we are in need of seasonal workers.”
