Qatar officials seize rotten fruits and vegetables

When inspectors from the Health Control Department in Doha Municipality inspected the stores of a food supplier in the Industrial Area, they came upon, seized and destroyed rotten tomatoes, strawberries and other foodstuff that were unsuitable for human consumption. A report was issued against the company, and the necessary legal measures are also being taken.

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), explained in a statement on Thursday that the goods had rotted as a result of poor storage, sorting and transportation.

The MME said it is keen to follow up on the observations and complaints of the public and take necessary action. The press statement noted that health control departments in all municipalities carry out continuous inspection campaigns on all food establishments and take legal measures against violators, in order to preserve the health and safety of consumers.
