The World's Top 10 apple producers

China will be the world's biggest apple producer in the 2020/21 season with a production of 40.5 million tons, according to projections of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). It will be followed by the European Union, with 12.23 million tons, and, a great distance, the United States (with 4.49 million tons), Turkey (with 4.30 million), and India (with 2.30 million ).

Russia will rank sixth with 1.54 million tons. It will be followed by Ukraine (1.46 million tons), Brazil (1.20 million), Chile (1.11 million), and, completing the top 10, South Africa, with 0.97 million tons.

The USDA projects that the world production for the 2020/21 campaign will decline by 3.6 million tons, totaling 75.88 million tons, due to a severe spring frost that significantly affected the northwestern provinces of China. In particular, China's production is estimated will be 1.9 million tons lower than in the previous season.

The USDA also forecasts a decline in trade due to declining exportable supplies in the European Union and the United States.
