Hortifrut announces new additions and changes of senior executives in Latam and Asia

Hortifrut, a grower and marketer of berries worldwide, began the second half of 2021 by announcing it would make additions and changes in its ranks of senior executives with the aim of continuing its development while maintaining its position as a world leader in the agri-food industry.

The changes are as follows:

Juan Ramsay, general manager of Hortifrut in Chile.
Maria Elena Echenique, corporate manager of Sustainability and Corporate Affairs.
Bobby Yavari, Asia Business Development Leader.

As of July 1 of this year, Juan Ramsay joined Hortifrut as general manager of the company in Chile. Ramsay is a Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Davis (US). He has an MBA from the University of Adelaide (Australia), an MFin from Universidad Adolfo IbaƱez, and a post-graduate degree in Company Direction from the Institute of Directors (UK). He has a strategic and transversal view of the agro-industrial business, holding previous executive positions in agricultural management and operations, with commercial experience in international business in more than 15 countries in Asia, Europe, and America, and has been a general manager in agribusiness for ten years. "I joined Hortifrut with the mission of leading and managing an ambitious varietal replacement plan with the aim of producing top quality berries, delivering an agile, transparent, and profitable service to our producers," he stated.

Maria Elena Echenique assumed the position of corporate manager of Sustainability and Corporate Affairs and will be in charge of leading and planning the company's Corporate Affairs and Sustainability strategy, generating and facilitating social and environmental actions, as well as its communication. Her main medium-term objective is to comply with the Sustainability strategy for the 21/22 season, working on five pillars: carbon footprint, sustainable packaging, community, efficient use of water, and renewable energy. She had previously held various management positions at Hortifrut.

The third incorporation was that of Bobby Yavari, who at the beginning of this year assumed as Head of Asia Business Development and will handle business in China, India, Australia, and the rest of Asia from China. Yavari's main function will be to develop and expand business in the Asia Pacific through various associations, the company's own structures in berries and other value-added products, developing and promoting their own brands through various marketing platforms.

The executive, with more than two decades of experience in agribusiness, also has engineering degrees from the University of Illinois, an MBA from Northeastern Illinois University, and a postgraduate degree in International Business from Northwestern University. "Our short-term goal is to focus on further developing the tremendous potential of China and other Asian countries through our current partnerships," Yavari stated.
