Peru produced 553,000 tons of Valencia oranges in 2020

According to data from the General Directorate of Agricultural Development and Agroecology of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (Midagri), Peru produced a total of 553,000 tons of Valencia oranges in 2020.

The country has 28,000 hectares devoted to the production of Valencia oranges and the national average yield stands at 19.5 tons per hectare. The average price of this fruit at the farms in 2020 was S/ 0.63 per kilo (in 2019 it reached S / 0.59 the kilo). More than 50% of the volume is sold between May and August.

The production is led by the departments of Junin, which produces 54% of the national total, San Martin (14%), Lima (7%), Puno (5%), and Cusco (4%).
