More attention necessary to sustainably develop citrus trees

There are now 7,900 hectares in Ha Tinh province under orange trees concentrated in the four districts of Huong Khe, Vu Quang, Huong Son and Can Loc of which 5,600 hectares are productive land. This includes 1,657 hectares meeting VietGAP standards with average yield of 11.7 tons per hectare. Ha Tinh’ total orange production is expected to reach over 65,000 tons in 2021.

2021 is the second year Ha Tinh Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has implement organic practices on three hectares of orange trees in Duc Linh commune (Vu Quang district ) and Loc Yen commune (Huong Khe district).

In recent years, Ha Tinh Provincial People’s Committee has boosted the digital transformation in agriculture. The portal has helped shoppers look up information about the fruits including: relevant certifications, production records, transport and trading records and ecosystem as well.

Dang Ngoc Son, Vice Chairman of Ha Tinh Provincial People’s Committee said the competent authorities of the province have made a plan to organize trade promotions events to boost the consumption of oranges along with Ha Tinh’s OCOP products in 2021. The province has sent an official letter to the relevant ministries, provinces and retail corporations and big supper markets across the country to promote the cooperation and boost the consumption of oranges.
