It’s busy times for Polish apple traders, as one exporter states he’s fully filled with orders over the next two weeks. Demand overall has been strong this year and is expected to increase even further once apple producing countries run out of their local stocks.
Mateusz Wajnert, head of sales for Polish apple exporter Galster, states the demand for the apples from Poland has been solid up until now. The exporter is practically fully booked with orders for the next few weeks: “I can say that current demand for Polish apples is in a good spot, very good even. Especially since the previous week the trend is easy to see. We are implementing our plans and programs with our customers and our packing lines for this moment are mostly filled for the next two weeks.”
Although it is the holiday season, Wajnert doesn’t expect a lot of change in the markets that Galster exports the apples to. “In the upcoming month nothing will change with our main markets. Our apples will go to a few countries of Europe and long shipments to countries like Persian Gulf countries, India and others in less amounts. Especially Europe should be our main market in terms of volumes. I suppose that in many Europe countries, apple traders focus on selling their own production of apples in the first months of the season. December and the following months should come with stronger demand from their side, as their stocks of local apples will start to decline.”
Some Polish exporters have been taking the chance to export to Egypt this season, due to the high demand. Galster has some experience exporting to this market, but according to Wajnert the company is focused on different markets at the moment: “At this point, we’re staying in touch with some Egyptian customers. In the past we’ve sent some shipments to this market, but right now our focus is on other markets, as well as working to start with a couple of new markets for us. An example would be Colombia, but even when looking a bit closer we have visible ambition in the UK market.” He concludes.
