Peru aims to become the second-biggest exporter of table grapes in the world for the second consecutive year. Peruvian table grape exports have been growing despite a context that is still complicated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the Association of Exporters of Peru (ADEX), Peruvian grape exports in 2020 amounted to 1.034 billion dollars, i.e. 17.6% more than in the previous year. This figure is expected to be even higher this year.
One of the reasons for this notable increase in grape shipments is the consolidation of the trade agreements signed, together with the work of the National Agrarian Health Service of Peru (Senasa) to access more markets. In addition, the greater range of varieties, in which the Red Globe grape continues to stand out for its flavor, makes the offer more attractive. The United States, the Netherlands, and Germany concentrate the highest demand. The end of 2021 is the beginning of the highest production and sale season for Peruvian exporters. It is a period in which China becomes the main consumer as the country celebrates the arrival of the lunar new year.
