The Cherry Committee of the Chilean Fruit Exporters Association (ASOEX) has organized one of its most extensive actions to promote Chilean cherries in the wholesale fruit markets of China, its main export market, in the 2021/22 season.
The Committee planned 14 events in 7 different wholesale fruit markets in China to give fresh fruit traders the opportunity to interact directly with representatives of the Chilean Cherry Committee and its cherry exporting member companies.
The series of events is part of a global annual promotional campaign, within the framework of a unified and centrally managed program to stimulate the consumption of Chilean cherries in China, benefiting the fruit industry by allowing it to sell more cherries during the winter.
On December 23, the Huizhan wholesale market event was broadcasted live on December 23. On December 27, the Chilean Cherry Committee launched a series of events in Guangzhou's Jiangnonghui Market. Many of these actions include games, shows, and prizes.
The Cherry Committee also plans to hold workshops and events in the Jiaxing market near Shanghai in January, as well as in the markets of Qingdao, Nanchang, Chengdu, and Kunming.
According to the latest estimate of the ASOEX Cherry Committee, which accounts for more than 82% of the volume of Chilean cherry exports, this season Chile will export 72,367,963 boxes (5 kg) of cherries, equivalent to 361,840 tons. This figure would reflect a 2.6% increase over the volume exported in the previous season.
