Kenya set to commence exporting avocados to China

Chief executive officer Okisegere Ojepat of the Fresh Produce Consortium of Kenya (FPC Kenya) has stated that discussions are ongoing to approve export of avocado to China. According to Ojepat, the Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service and its Chinese counterpart is expected to conduct inspection and address some technical issues to ensure that avocados meant for export meet quality and safety threshold.

"We are currently selling frozen avocados to the Chinese market and this new agreement is most welcomed as it will help increase the country's export earnings," said Ojepat.
