27 Fijian workers to join Seeka in Victoria

Some 27 Fijians will be joining the Australian labour-hire employer, Seeka in Victoria under the Pacific Labour Scheme. Fourteen of them have left for Australia and will be part of the Agriculture industry for nine months while the remaining group will depart later. The group will engage in fruit picking, pruning, packing, planting and general labor.

The Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations Parveen Bala says workers have been advised to set clear goals, stay focused and perform their best as this will open up new opportunities for other Fijians wishing to be part of the scheme in the near future.

Bala says, given the current situation, Fijians are very fortunate to receive this opportunity to assist in their families’ livelihoods as well as to improve their living standards.
