Ukraine aims to export apples to India

According to the press service of the State Food and Consumer Service, Ukrainian departments and business representatives are working to resume apple exports to India in 2022.

The issue was discussed during a meeting of the head of the State Food and Consumer Service Vladislava Magaletska with Ivan Konovalov, Economic Adviser of the Embassy of Ukraine in India, as well as business representatives.

Magaletska said: “Not only specialists from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economy and the State Food Service are involved in the work. We are actively cooperating with business representatives. Therefore, I hope that trial batches will be delivered without problems, and a little later Ukraine will become a significant supplier of fresh apples to India.”

In 2018, Ukraine and India had already agreed on trial batches of Ukrainian apples. Deliveries were made in 2019., but some batches received notifications of non-compliance. Phytosanitary requirements in Ukraine became known after delivery. The export was stopped as a result of this.
