International Fresh Produce Association to replace PMA Southern Africa

As of 1 January 2022, PMA Southern Africa has been replaced by the International Fresh Produce Association or IFPA. Building on the legacy of PMA and United Fresh, IFPA represents companies from every segment of the global fresh produce and floral supply chain and is not just a combination of both associations, but a new association. The leaders of the former United Fresh and Produce Marketing Association chose not to merge but rather to create an entirely new organisation to supersede their separate organisations and thus IFPA was born.

IFPA is the largest and most diverse international association which serves the entire fresh produce and floral supply chain. IFPA Southern Africa is headed up by Lianne Jones, SA IFPA Country Manager. “I am thrilled to be part of this exciting new association that has a strong international focus. Our members in South Africa will have more opportunities to connect with global companies in the fresh produce industry,” said Lianne. “ In addition, we have strengthened our expertise in food safety, nutrition, and global trade. IFPA Southern Africa will continue to arrange events and networking opportunities for members throughout the year.”

IFPA Southern Africa have events planned throughout the year, including Fresh Solutions, Beanstalk Broadcasts, Southern Hemisphere Commodity Working Groups and the main conference, The South African Conference which will be held in Cape Town from 16 – 18 August.

“There are so many benefits to being a member of IFPA,” said Lianne. “We have always been known for connecting through events, and this year we are looking forward to returning to in-person events.”

IFPA membership is open to any company, large or small, in the fresh produce or floral supply chain. Not only can members attend IFPA events at special rates, but they also have access to a membership directory, and an enormous publications and research library. “
By joining IFPA, you’ll be part of a large, diverse network of leading fresh produce and floral companies committed to driving the industry forward. If you believe, as we do, that fresh produce and floral are key to solving some of the world’s most pressing problems, then join the International Fresh Produce Association and help bring the industry together to create a vibrant future for all.
