Summary of China's ginger export data for 2021

In 2021, China exported 443,800 tons of ginger, which was a drop of 10.88% compared with 2020. The value of exported ginger was 536.13 million US dollars, down 21.74% year-on-year. The average price was 1,209.08 US dollars/ton, which decreased by 15.92% year-on-year.

Among the countries and regions that imported ginger from China, the Netherlands was the largest importer by quantity, with 57,100 tons, which declined 12.03% year on year. The value reached 88.45 million US dollars, down 19.35% year-on-year. The average price was 1,548.99 US dollars/ton, which decreased by 8.32% year on year.

The United States ranked second with 56,200 tons, which decreased by 1.85% year on year. Its value was 63.57 million US dollars, which decreased by 16.11% year on year. The average price was 1,130.92 US dollars/ton, which decreased by 14.53% year on year.

Pakistan came third with a volume of 46,600 tons, which decreased by 10.43% year on year. Its value was $48.46 million US dollars, which decreased by 19.52% year on year. The average price was 1,039.42 US dollars/ton, which decreased by 10.13% year on year.

Among the countries importing ginger from China in 2021, the Netherlands, the United States, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Japan, and the United Kingdom were the top ten.

Among provinces and cities that exported ginger in China, the top three were Shandong Province, Yunnan Province, and Jiangsu Province, with a total volume of 404,500 tons in 2021, accounting for 91.14% of the total exports. Among them, the total export volume of Shandong Province fell by 7.84% compared with the same period last year, and the export value fell by 21.04% compared with the same period last year. The total export volume of Yunnan Province ranked second, with its total export volume increasing by 23.04% over the same period last year and export value falling by 7.62% over the same period last year. The export volume of Jiangsu Province fell by 34.37% compared with the same period last year, and the value fell by 29.44% year on year.
