In 2021, 99,940 tons of fresh pineapple fruit for export were certified good to go. According to figures from the Phytosanitary and Zoosanitary Regulation and Control Agency (Agrocalidad), this meant 17% more fruit sent to international markets than in 2020.
The entity highlighted that last year 2,850 shipments were made to 18 destinations worldwide. Markets such as Chile, the Netherlands, the United States, Argentina, Germany, New Zealand and Russia stand out, as those with the largest amount of fruit shipped, although at the moment there are phytosanitary requirements established so that fresh pineapple fruit can be exported to 38 different countries.
