At the beginning of this year, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports to China fell by more than 16%

Vietnam's "Commercial News" reported on February 27 that according to statistics from the General Administration of Vietnam Customs, in the first half of February, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports were only US$76.5 million, a year-on-year decrease of about 42%. As of February 15, Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports were US$368.5 million, down more than 16% year-on-year (a net decrease of over US$72 million).

One of the reasons for the decline in exports is that from the end of 2021 to the present, agricultural exports to China have faced many difficulties, especially through the northern land border ports. According to statistics from the General Administration of Vietnam Customs, as of the end of January, Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports to China reached US$148.9 million, accounting for 50.8% of the country’s total exports of such commodities; however, the export value fell by 18.5% year-on-year.

In addition to China, Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports to other major export markets include US$22.35 million to the United States, US$12.2 million to South Korea, US$11.8 million to Japan, and over US$10 million to Thailand. In particular, the U.S. and South Korea markets grew strongly. Among them, exports to the United States increased by nearly 70%; exports to South Korea increased by nearly 32%; exports to Japan also increased by 12%.

On the other hand, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports to Thailand fell significantly year on year, with a drop of 38.3%.
