In January 2022, Uzbekistan already witnessed record volumes of exports of the main types of cabbage due to a rush demand in foreign markets. In February, the situation also remained favorable for Uzbek producers and exporters of white cabbage, Beijing, cauliflower and broccoli.
According to preliminary data from the Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, export volumes in physical terms for the main types of cabbage in February 2022 amounted to:
- white cabbage – 17,200 tonnes, which is 120% times more than in the same month of 2021;
- cauliflower and broccoli – 2,500 tonnes, which is 62% more than in February 2021;
- Chinese cabbage – 710 tonnes, which is 260% times more than in February 2021.
As for the geography of exports, 99% of the total volume of white cabbage was exported to four countries – Kazakhstan (80%), Russia (10%), Kyrgyzstan (6%) and Belarus (3%). About 98% of cauliflower and broccoli – Kazakhstan (61%), Russia (17%), Kyrgyzstan (12%) and Ukraine (8%); almost the entire volume of Beijing cabbage was shipped to three countries – Kazakhstan (74%), Russia (18%) and Belarus (8%).
